Thala Dan was subchartered from EPF. Seaman Ronnholm was killed when 
practicing lowering lifeboats. On 14 February USCGC arrived to free Thala Dan 
from the ice and escort it to Wilkes, and out again some days later. Casey 
station (Repstat) was opened on 19 February 1969.
